Workplace DesignOur team at Ædifica was pleased to transform the Sommer Building into a dynamic and collaborative urban hub for Desjardins Card and Payment Services. This large-scale project aimed to consolidate 1,600 employees, previously spread across several sites, into a single location strategically situated near Complexe Desjardins. The objective was to foster synergy between teams and create a stimulating and functional living environment for everyone.

Our approach involved rethinking and consolidating workspaces, integrating a variety of layouts to support collaboration, agility, and innovation. Particular attention was paid to highlighting the heritage of the Sommer Building, notably through the creation of two atriums that emphasize its original architecture. For employee well-being, a rooftop terrace and a cafeteria offering panoramic views of downtown were created.
The flexible concept we developed embodies Desjardins' values while offering a modern and stimulating work environment. Rest and recreation areas, convivial coffee corners, and multifunctional spaces have been integrated. A distinctive element is the transformation of the staircases into a vibrant and colorful work of art, encouraging active design and mobility within the building.
The success of this project is based on our participatory process, which closely involved Desjardins employees through various advisory committees. This collaboration made it possible to create a living environment that goes beyond functional needs, reflecting the lifestyle and expectations of its occupants. Our integrated approach also optimized technical solutions, combining aesthetics and efficiency for lighting and mechanical distribution.
