1000 Fullum

Located in the heart of a dense and strategically important area of Montréal, 1000 Fullum Street is a six-storey institutional building constructed in 1930. This project aimed to ensure the long-term viability of this public facility through a major initiative focused on code compliance upgrades, asset preservation, and the modernization of its spaces.
The modernization of 1000 Fullum Street, formerly home to Télé-Québec, transformed this iconic public building into a contemporary, high-performance workplace designed to meet today's evolving needs. The mandate included the complete redevelopment of Blocks A and B, the renovation of interior spaces, and the rehabilitation of part of Block C, including façade and roof upgrades as well as improvements to meet the current Energy Code requirements. Completed in a fully vacated building, the work was carried out in three phases to ensure a seamless transition between temporary interventions and the permanent fit-out.
Our team supported the project from the initial building surveys through construction, providing multidisciplinary coordination, BIM management, technology integration, sustainability consulting, and occupant well-being strategies. We also coordinated the entire process for achieving LEED v4 Commercial Interiors (CI) certification and incorporated energy efficiency measures to enhance the building's long-term environmental performance.
One of the project's greatest challenges was integrating a new functional program within an existing building dating back to the 1930s. Adapting the new design to the constraints of the existing structure while preserving its architectural character and meeting technical, regulatory, and operational requirements demanded a flexible design approach and close coordination among all project stakeholders.
As is often the case with large-scale rehabilitation projects, construction uncovered numerous unforeseen conditions related to the existing building. Through proactive communication, agile project management, and close collaboration with the design team and contractors, our team responded quickly to emerging issues, developed sustainable solutions, and maintained the project's quality and performance objectives throughout construction.
The 1000 Fullum Street project exemplifies an integrated approach where heritage preservation, environmental performance, and innovation come together to breathe new life into a landmark Montréal building, ensuring it is ready to serve future generations.
