Winning project of an international architectural competition
Our team at Ædifica, in collaboration with Diamond Schmitt Architects, is proud to have contributed to the realization of the Maison symphonique de Montréal, an internationally renowned classical music concert hall located in the heart of Place des Arts. Designed to meet the highest standards in natural acoustics, stage design, and architecture, this iconic hall is the privileged home of the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal.

The "shoebox" architectural concept offers exceptional acoustics, the result of meticulous design and the use of noble materials such as blonde beech wood from the Gatineau region, selected for its sonic qualities. The hall can accommodate up to 1,900 spectators and 120 musicians on stage, with optimal visibility from every seat. The integration of the majestic Grand Orgue Pierre Béique (Casavant op. 3900) further enriches the musical experience offered.
The design of the Maison symphonique is based on a striking contrast between the transparency and openness of the public spaces and the isolated envelope of the auditorium, where acoustics, intimacy, and elegance are paramount. Our approach aimed to create a hall with a modern and refined aesthetic, ensuring total immersion in the musical performance. Conscious of environmental impact, our experts also coordinated the achievement of LEED-NC certification for this prestigious venue, highlighting our commitment to sustainability. The Maison symphonique is now recognized as one of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, offering an unforgettable auditory and visual experience in the heart of Montreal.
