Sectors
CultureAedifica is proud to have played a vital role in the reconstruction of the Centre d'Art in Haiti, a meaningful project that combines heritage preservation with contemporary creation. Destroyed by the 2010 earthquake, the Centre d'Art is reborn on a new site, integrating the Larsen-Ethéard heritage house, an architectural gem in the "gingerbread" style.

Our approach was to establish a harmonious dialogue between history and modernity. The restoration of the Larsen-Ethéard House, a symbol of Haitian cultural richness, is at the heart of the project. It is complemented by the construction of two new buildings with clean lines and a contemporary aesthetic, which will house exhibition, conservation, education, and training activities.
This project transcends the simple reconstruction of a building; it is about recreating a dynamic living space that celebrates Haitian culture, supports artists, and contributes to social progress. We placed paramount importance on the use of local, sustainable, and socially responsible construction materials and techniques. The design also incorporates innovative ecological solutions, such as rainwater harvesting and wastewater management through filtering marshes.
The new Centre d'Art aims to be a place of encounter and exchange, a symbol of resilience and pride for Haiti. It embodies our commitment to designing spaces that not only meet the functional needs of our clients but also contribute to the cultural revitalization and sustainable development of communities.
