LEED v4 BD+C Gold certification targeted.
Our team at Ædifica is proud to play an active role in the revitalization of Laval's Chomedey district with the creation of the Centre communautaire Simonne-Monet-Chartrand, a flagship project located on the Val-Martin redevelopment site. Developed in close collaboration with the Office municipal d'habitation de Laval, Groupe GEYSER (general contractor) and Bâtir son quartier, this project is part of an ambitious and sustainable urban transformation process.

The community center is part of a three-phase development of 357 housing units, including Régénération (124 units) and AccèsLogis (233 units) projects, promoting a social mix with housing for families, singles and independent seniors. The whole project is guided by an Integrated Design Process (IDP), which has mobilized all stakeholders - OMHL, Ville de Laval, government levels and community groups - around a common vision: to make Val-Martin an inclusive, high-performance, resilient and sustainable neighborhood.
The Simonne-Monet-Chartrand Community Center, with a surface area of 27,965 square feet, is aiming for LEED v4 BD+C Gold certification and is located at the heart of a newly LEED v4 ND: Plan certified site. Designed as a true living environment, it will house an agora, a youth center, a social grocery store, cultural spaces, and multipurpose facilities, reflecting the current and future needs of the community.
A transdisciplinary project:
Ædifica's approach combines expertise in community and residential architecture, sustainable development, urban design and engineering to create a coherent, integrated project. The center's design reflects values of openness, welcoming, gathering, anchoring and continuity, in line with the neighborhood's identity and the site's social mission.
With its simple, monolithic, two-storey volume, the center asserts its presence on Notre-Dame Boulevard. Its transparency and visible activity from the outside, notably via the suspended dance hall, make it a dynamic landmark and an engine of transformation for the neighborhood.
The project promotes active mobility, connection to public transport (TOD), a reduced environmental footprint and the development of an urban park on the former site, offering a vast, landscaped public space for the community.
This project is a concrete illustration of our commitment to building complete, inclusive and sustainable living environments that serve our communities.
