Our approach was guided by a desire to meet the specific needs of the community, while integrating the most rigorous international standards in seismic and cyclone-resistant design. We also placed paramount importance on the human dimension of the project, incorporating Haitian cultural elements, such as a sacred tree and mural mosaics, to promote community ownership of the new hospital.

The Saint-Michel Hospital, composed of two main buildings, was designed to offer an environment that is both safe, functional, and welcoming. Particular attention was paid to the optimization of natural resources, with the implementation of natural ventilation and lighting systems, as well as an innovative wastewater treatment system using constructed wetlands.

This project illustrates our commitment to designing sustainable healthcare infrastructure adapted to local realities, even in complex and challenging contexts. The Saint-Michel Hospital is a symbol of hope and renewal for the community of Jacmel, and a model for future reconstruction projects in Haiti.
