606 CathcartMONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA
Ædifica was looking for new lodgings for its entire team and wanted to redesign its office to suit its collaborative approach. The building at 606 Cathcart offered many charming features: abundant windows, high ceilings, a unique, modulated concrete structure... all crying out to be shown off to advantage. Materials such as wood, metal, bamboo and glass reflect the true character of the building. Two basic colours, white and anthracite, produce vivid contrast, spiced up with a touch of lime green. Sustainable development, a fundamental principle for Ædifica, guided the overall process: optimization of natural light, water- and energy-conserving equipment, etc. The desire to recycle also dictated the choice of materials and the re-use of existing furniture. In 2011 Ædifica’s offices received the LEED Silver certification.
