The Avril Griffintown project represents a bold undertaking, reimagining the supermarket experience by seamlessly integrating it into the dynamic urban fabric of Griffintown. Ædifica rose to the challenge of designing a space that respects Avril's core identity while catering to the specific needs and expectations of the local clientele.

More than just a shopping destination, Avril Griffintown is envisioned as a holistic experience, where a diverse and high-quality retail offering (100% organic fruits and vegetables, groceries, supplements, cosmetics) blends with a gourmet and convivial dining experience. The Bistro Avril, the project's centerpiece, offers a warm ambiance and a design inspired by French bistros, creating a space where one can savor chef-prepared dishes, enjoy wines selected by a mixologist, or simply gather with friends.

The design of the Avril Griffintown store is structured around a fluid and intuitive customer journey that guides shoppers through the various sections. The space is segmented to offer distinct experiences: the vibrant energy of the supermarket, the intimate ambiance of the bistro, and the inviting atmosphere of the specialty counters (prepared foods, bakery, cheese shop, etc.).

Integrating the project into Griffintown's urban context was a key design consideration. The design draws inspiration from the neighborhood's industrial heritage, incorporating traditional materials and finishes (lime, ceramics) with contemporary furnishings. The abundance of natural light and views of the surrounding neighborhood contribute to an atmosphere that is both modern and authentic.

Ædifica leveraged its expertise in commercial design and experiential space creation to craft a destination that transcends the traditional supermarket concept. Close collaboration with the client, and a multidisciplinary approach (interior design, lighting, culinary expertise), enabled the creation of a space that reflects Avril's identity and the spirit of Griffintown.
