In an increasingly challenging time for retail, Ædifica believes that some of the basic principles of retail design should be re-examined, refreshed, and updated. The Jordan store in Toronto illustrates our belief that built environments are most effective when they are infused with meaning and purpose. For this project, “empowerment” had a dual purpose: to build up the Jordan brand and sales, while continuing to inspire Toronto’s pride in basketball and encourage them to excel in the sport.

Our team created an immersive environment where brand identity, store experience, and local pride mesh harmoniously. The design draws inspiration from the energy of the street and basketball courts, with key elements such as a regulation-height net near the main entrance and a mural of Michael Jordan replicating the famous 1986 “wings” poster, hand-painted by artist Patrick McGregor. The store features modular displays and flexible lighting to showcase iconic products and the latest Jordan collections. Uniquely, a state-of-the-art workout facility is also available to local athletes, including players from Jordan-sponsored high schools.

This award-winning project testifies to our distinctive approach, where design and construction are guided by a commitment to empowering our clients and their communities.
