15 September, 2023
Ædifica is pleased to announce that the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) have awarded the title of LEED Fellow to Mélanie Pitre, Vice President, Sustainability and Engineering at Ædifica.

This year, the recognition was awarded to twenty-one international professionals, highlighting their exceptional mastery of LEED, the world's most widely used green building rating system, and attesting to their outstanding work in advancing green building practices. Mélanie is also the first woman engineer in Canada to receive the title of LEED Fellow.
"Melanie's nomination is a testament to her dedication and many accomplishments in our industry and towards the USGBC vision. Her leadership in green design illustrates the importance and far-reaching impact of sustainable development and confirms her commitment, and that of our agency, to our purpose - driving positive impact for people, communities and the planet" said Jean-Pierre Généreux, President and CEO.
Candidates for LEED Fellows are nominated by their peers and undergo a thorough review by an evaluation committee. Each candidate must be a LEED Professional with a specialty, demonstrating high-level technical skills as well as exceptional impact in terms of education, mentoring, leadership and commitment over a minimum of 10 continuous years. The LEED Fellow designation is the highest possible recognition for a LEED Professional in the green building industry.
Mélanie Pitre holds a Master's degree in construction engineering, sustainable building and waste management from ÉTS, and stands out for her dynamism, vision and leadership in advancing the cause of sustainability. With nearly twenty years' experience in sustainable development consulting, sustainable site design and certification, and integrated design processes (IDP), Mélanie sits on advisory committees such as CaGBC's Sites & Water, the ÉTS Studies Commission, the Construction Lab of the Centre d'études et de recherches intersectorielles en économie circulaire (CERIEC) and the CQ3E; and ensures the firm's involvement in the Canada Green Building Council, US Green Building Council, Bâtiment durable Québec, Conseil québécois des entreprises en efficacité énergétique, United Nations Global Compact and Montréal durable.
LEED Fellows 2023 will be recognized on Thursday, September 28 at the annual Greenbuild International conference and exhibition, the world's largest gathering of green building professionals.
