École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS)MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA
École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) appointed Ædifica to redesign two office floors occupied by the Information Technology Services (ITS) and the Cooperative Education Services (CES). For this significant workplace environment design project, our designers created a rich and collaborative living environment where natural light and a variety of materials are in the spotlight!
Our goal was to create an attractive, dynamic, and sophisticated living environment for ÉTS employees who will help the university to accomplish their mission of becoming a world leader in engineering teaching and research to foster economic growth and industrial innovation. To do so, we designed an open, versatile, and structured environment that offers a functional and collaborative daily routine to its users, while enhancing the place's aesthetics by exploiting noble and raw materials already in place.
Firstly, the Information Technology Services (ITS) workplace redesign is the first major Revit project. Its goal is to reunite the four departments within this team into one common open area. The concept developed is designed to divide the space according to these different departments, by setting up several conference rooms that cleverly divide the space. To allow its users to be comfortable in their new workplace and to ensure that our projects empower the end user, we opted for large windows allowing better access to natural light while developing interior design strategies to achieve greater acoustic efficiency.
Secondly, the layout of the Cooperative Education Service (CES) was designed using the same approach as ITS, i.e. to create an open space that could be easily grasped by its users. A two-way circulation system was developed in order to provide an effective user experience. The first circulation path, within the core of the space, is dedicated for the interview rooms, while the second bypasses the workplace and provides them with a maximum of natural daylight. These pathways are punctuated by a façade made of various materials that breaks up the monotony of traditional workplaces while several meeting and interview rooms, with a unique identity through a play of colours, have been implemented.
This high-end project demonstrates, among other things, our ability to transform a conventional work environment into a stimulating, productive and collaborative living environment.
