StarbucksWestmount, Québec, Canada
Starbucks Canada’s design team joined forces with Ædifica to create a truly unique space for the opening of their 100th store in Quebec. Located in Westmount at the corner of St. Catherine’s Street and Greene Avenue, this store was to reflect the borough’s historical heritage in a contemporary fashion. Drawing its inspiration from Russian dolls, this concept bistro-café was built as a coffeehouse within a house that echoes the neighborhood’s origins and architectural heritage. As with all new Starbucks stores in Canada since 2010, the store was designed to LEED specifications and incorporates local recycled and reclaimed materials, including the rustic wood on the walls, ceiling and bar. The core idea was to create a space somewhere between a chic Victorian tea room and a young urban lounge.
