Barneys New York Coop
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, USAFor its first Brooklyn Co-op location, Barneys wanted to create an environment that reflected the evolving neighborhood along with its emerging artists. The shop takes up two floors of a modern construction. The wide open space of the lobby mirrors the clean and raw look of the neighboring art galleries. The white cinder block walls are adorned with avant-garde artwork. The basement is inspired by an artist’s loft. The hardwood of the walls and floors create a warm atmosphere. Low ceilings eliminate the option of concealing the pipes; more are added to create a sculptural effect. The solid metal framework used to strengthen the staircase creates the centerpiece that gives the store its industrial look.
