Ædifica unveils its second annual sustainability report
Ædifica has just released its annual sustainability report, as part of Earth Day, its second annual sustainability report following its adhesion to the United Nations' Global Compact two years ago. Ædifica therefore continues to be the first and only Québec SME offering professional services in architecture and design to engage in this global process and publish a report. It follows in the footsteps of major players such as Bell Canada, SNC-Lavalin, Bombardier, Telus and Hudson Bay.
In 2017, the firm began a process of evaluating and reporting on the transparency of its sustainable development activities. This approach would give rise to a first sustainability report describing the firm's efforts in implementing the ten founding principles of the United Nations Global Compact. One year later, the firm continued its efforts and delivered its second sustainability report.
"This engagement process has provided us with the opportunity, over the past two years, to implement different strategies to achieve our objectives; it has also allowed us to appreciate several measures that we had already put in place and that we can now celebrate. This provides a solid foundation for our continued commitment," said Michel Lauzon, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ædifica.
The report transcribes Ædifica's commitment into four themes that refer to the commitments of the United Nations Global Compact: putting people at the centre of our concerns, ensuring the well-being of our employees, taking care of the environment, and finally governing and managing with integrity. Each theme identifies the principles of the UN Global Compact and the corresponding GRI indicators, as well as the strategies used by the company and the actions quantified or argued.
"This second report raises awareness of the work that remains to be done to be an agent of change in society, but it is an essential milestone and a solid foundation for the transformations that must take place to ensure the dignity, health and prosperity of all people," added Michel Lauzon, Ædifica's President and Chief Executive Officer.Back to list
